KANSAS CITY, Kan. (AP) -- A Leawood doctor and his wife face federal charges of illegally distributing several prescription drugs.

Dr. Bruce N. Parsa and his wife, Angela, both 40, were indicted Thursday by a federal grand jury.

They each face numerous charges, including one count each of conspiracy to distribute about 1,950 grams of the amphetamine drugs Dexedrine, Adderall and Dextrostat, and about 535 grams of the pain relievers Oxycontin and Oxycodone.

Dr. Parsa also is charged with four counts of distributing Dexedrine or Oxycontin, three counts of fraudulently obtaining Dexedrine for his personal consumption, and four counts of using a revoked registration number to obtain Oxycodone and Dexedrine.

Angela Parsa also is charged with two counts of distributing Dexedrine, two counts of fraudulently obtaining Dexedrine for her personal consumption, and two counts of using a revoked registration number to obtain Dexedrine.

If convicted, each could face up to life in prison without parole.
